–>is an alternative art space in Khon Kaen, founded by artists, illustrators, and independent designers Sina Wittayawiroj and Witchayada Prabnok on the second floor of the “Ready for the Weekend. Coffee and Art.” café. Its goal is to serve as a platform for displaying “Undefined and Unrestricted” art. The space is designed as a simple white cube to allow artists and viewers the freedom to interpret and interact with the works. In addition to solo and group exhibitions by both local and external artists, ALIEN Artspace is known for organizing exhibitions that challenge traditional frameworks, such as “High Landing” and the “Undefined Art Project” (UAP), which accept works from artists and the general public without limitations on concept or medium. This fosters diverse conversations and consistently energizes the local contemporary art scene.

Its mission is to transform a remote area into a center for learning and creativity for the community. The “Red Door” symbolizes an openness to new ideas and a break from old stereotypes of rural areas. It functions as a gallery, library, and a venue for talks and seminars, aiming to build a strong, grassroots cultural ecosystem. Most recently, Pratudang Space has expanded its role by joining the “Micro Cinema” network, a project that promotes small-scale cinemas to increase diversity and access to alternative films for the community, reinforcing its mission to be a space for learning and opening up new perspectives for local people.

The group operates without a fixed structure, bound by the philosophy that a “sofa” is a space for relaxation, conversation, and the casual exchange of ideas, yet it can also be a place from which to launch powerful actions. Sofaism works in various forms, from creating artworks and organizing events to collaborating with other networks to create ripples and question the surrounding social and cultural contexts.
